Explorations In Math

A note from Explorations in Math’s Executive Director

August 3rd, 2010

Dear Friends of Explorations in Math,

I am announcing today that I will be moving on from the position of Executive Director of Explorations in Math at the end of November. This is a difficult decision.  I am deeply passionate about the work of Explorations in Math and the need for a math movement to support children’s success in mathematics. It has been my honor to lead the Explorations in Math team and to work with so many people who share our vision.

My decision to step down as Executive Director is very personal and it took a lot of soul searching with my family to reach this point. I have no immediate plans to take another job. During the next four months, I will be focused on ensuring a smooth transition as our Board of Directors undertakes an aggressive search and hires my replacement.

It is exciting that this transition comes as we are in a financially sound position, we are poised for new programs, deepening our relationships with our partner schools, and looking at how we can grow. We will be updating you with more news on that in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned…

I give my heartfelt thanks to you and everyone associated with Explorations in Math for the opportunity to lead this vitally important work.

I will continue to be an avid volunteer and financial supporter of Explorations in Math for many, many years to come—and I hope you will as well.

Stephanie has been such an incredible leader! It has been an honor and a delight to work with the entire EIM team during her tenure. Watching EIM flourish and create vibrant math cultures in elementary school communities throughout the Seatte area has been simply wonderful.

I will look forward to continuing to watch EIM grow and thrive, and to seeing what Stephanie’s next big adventure will be…you will be missed!
