Why MathFest?  Held in a carnival-like setting, MathFest invites elementary-age children and their families to “play math.” It’s all part of Explorations in Math’s efforts to build a “Math Movement,” transform attitudes about math, and help kids build confidence in and enthusiasm for math.

Explorations in Math focuses on elementary math because too many of our kids are falling behind in math. In fact, every other 10th grader statewide is not meeting Washington math standards and among low-income students, only 1 in 5 10th graders is at or above standard. We need to get to kids early and ensure they are confident and enthusiastic about math—we need a math culture.  Come to MathFest and see math culture in the making!
