Math Culture in the Making at Brighton Elementary

Published on June 23 2010

EIM member school, Brighton Elementary, is working hard to build math culture and provide more math opportunities for their students.  Brighton began offering EIM Programs to students last January and has already had some great successes!  Since January, Brighton has served 100 students through four math clubs, hosted two Family Math Nights, and posted monthly math challenge boards. Brighton’s Principal, Cothron McMillian, shared that test scores are improving at Brighton; of the 100 students served, 65% increased their MAP scores by 10 points or more!  They plan to continue using EIM Programs in the upcoming school year including hosting a MathWays workshop and offering a professional development session for staff packed with fun math games!  Principal McMillian has been a huge advocate for EIM and an incredible partner.  Way to go, Brighton!
